STRATEGIC CONSULTANCY - OPERATIONAL SOLUTIONS – REFERENCE MATERIAL
As the originator of Town Centre Management in public-private partnerships in Belgium, we have been working hand in hand with local, regional, federal, European, and international public authorities since 1997, on all themes related to city centres.
Together with Wallonia, we launched in 1997 the network of 16 town centre managements in Belgium. For more than twenty years we have coordinated and ongoingly trained these structures. In 2009, we also actively took part in the drafting of the national decree on town centre management unanimously voted by the Parliament.
Furthermore, new urban trends and innovative concepts of city management have been successfully imported and implemented in Belgium thanks to several European projects mounted, coordinated and/or led by the AMCV; the two main INTERREG projects we conducted being
TOCEMA &
Lively Cities. During
TOCEMA, we have built with nine European countries the European standards of town centre management, recognized through a 3-level ISO 9001 certification.
Lively Cities however focused on successfully importing the concepts of place making and place management to Europe. Thanks to this project more than 15 public spaces have been redesigned for users between 2011 & 2015 in North West Europe.
In 2016, together with the Ministry of Economy we have written the Walloon plan to boost town centre retail.
We are currently contributing to the White Paper on the revitalization of European City centres, led by the French National Union of the Clothing industry.
