|What is meant by "Retail Development"|
Retail development [RD] concentrates on retail in the city centre.
The retail development manager’s [RDM] role is to offer Walloon city centres the marketing services that are currently proposed in shopping centres. Contacts with brands and independent retailers must be cross-managed among city centres. City centres are not competing with one another but each of them with its own identity has something specific to offer and opportunities to propose.
The aim of the retail development is to fulfill city centres’ needs in retail and find the right brand for the right location.
RD’s four priorities of action :
1. Looking for and getting in touch with brand developers and independant retailers,
2. Listing vacancies and vacancies to be in the city centre,
3. Being an active interface between retailers and locations (core business),
4. Looking for new concepts and innovative trends that could fulfill a need of the Walloon market.
